Changes to AAU Code
1) Organization. The new document has been organized into a Constitution and Bylaws. The Constitution consists of 3 articles primary addressing the structure and governance of the AAU and its “Districts”. The Bylaws are operational rules.
2) Terminology Changes. Congress ( Board of Directors); Board of Directors (National Executive Committee); District (Association); Governor (Association President); Lieutenant Governor (Association Vice-President); Registrar (Registration Chair); District Sports Director (Association Sport Chair).
3) Amendments to the Constitution and Bylaws. It will take a 75% vote to amend the Constitution. Amendments to the Bylaws will require a 67% vote which is what was used to amend the code.
4) Representation to Congress. District and National Sport Committee representation to Congress has been readjusted.
5) Terms of District Offices. All District terms of office for elected position shall be four years (Officers, District Sport Directors and District Review Committee). All current terms of office shall be served until they are finished.
6) Zone Meetings. National Sport Committee shall be allowed representation at the Zone meetings.
7) National Administrative Committees. The Code now includes on 6 administrative committees (Finance, Insurance, Legislation, Nominations and Elections, Redistricting and Registration) at the National level. Other current national administrative committees would be considered Special Committees and will be listed in the Appendix. Composition has not been changed.
8) District Judicial Procedures. Eliminated the District Board of Managers as an appellate body to the District Review Committee.
9) District Sport Director Removal. District Sport Directors may re removed from their position if they fail to conduct at least one District competition.
