AAU National Team Members Make

US Pan-American Team

According to the USTU, National Governing body for Taekwondo in the United States, forty-two athletes were invited to Colorado Springs this past October 15th to take part in a three day development camp to assess their knowledge, skill, athletic ability, and overall experience in all areas of Taekwondo.  From among these forty-two elite players, sixteen (16) were chosen to represent the United States in the upcoming 2004 Pan-am Championships in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic November 17-21, 2004.

Among those chose were our own Fly Weight Team Members Jesus Armendariz of La Porte, Texas and Danielle Pelham of Bothell, Washington.  Both of these outstanding athletes made the 2004-2005 National AAU Taekwondo Team by first qualifying for Team Trials through our National Championship in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida this past July and then winning Team Trials in Houston, Texas on September 12th in a round robin format with other deserving National Championship medalists!

We are extremely proud of their accomplishment with the National Governing Body.  "Representing the United States in International competition is the dream of all elite Taekwondo players", says National AAU Taekwondo Chairman, Mike Friello.  "Having two of our own National Team Members rise to this level speaks volumes for the level of play within the AAU Taekwondo Program.  We wish them and the entire rest of the National Pan-Am Team the very best of luck next month in Santo Domingo".
