AAU Taekwondo Coaches
The AAU Taekwondo Online Coaches Certification is required annually in order to coach at any sanctioned AAU Taekwondo event, including non-qualifying tournaments. This certification is for the current competition year only (September 1st – August 31st). The only exception to this rule is that Team Trial coaches will be allowed to use their current year certification to coach at Team Trials even though the event falls in the next competition year as there may not be time to take the new course.
Certification/Recertification is required each year. No one will be allowed to coach without successfully completing this online course. Anyone who will be 14 any time during 2014 may take this course and upon passing will be allowed to coach at any AAU Taekwondo event.
New Guidelines for Coaches Effective 2014
Effective 2014, only the registered coach will be allowed to pick up a coach’s badge. Coach’s badges are not to be swapped for any reason. Any coach’s badge found in the possession of another coach will be confiscated and that coach whose photo appears on the badge will be prohibited from coaching for the duration of the event. All coaches must have their coach’s badge and a coach’s shirt on to be in staging or on the competition floor. Coaches should be on the competition floor only when they have an athlete on the floor. When on the competition floor, coaches must remain in the outside perimeter in the athlete/coach chairs when not actually coaching their athlete. Coaches are not allowed to take video or photos while anywhere on the competition floor.
