Congratulations to Mariana Prado, this year’s female recipient of the 2015 Amateur Athletic Union Taekwondo Youth Leadership Award. 

Meet Mariana Prado who started training at a young age of 4 has become an accomplished 2nd Degree Black Belt Taekwondo athlete & a beloved assistant instructor.  Some of her interests besides Taekwondo include playing violin since 9 years of age, president of the Junior National Honor Society, teaching at Bible school, cross country & helping in her community.                              

Mariana’s competition record was astonishing having participated and won numerous National & International events.  She has won a gold medal in the German Open, Pan-Am Open & the Mexico National Championship.  One of her accomplishments include defeating the Mexico National team member in the finals who also had earned a bronze medal in the last Junior World Championships.  

Being an Assistant Instructor, Mariana has shown great leadership inside and outside of her school.  Mariana has distinguished herself to have been a straight "A" student since kindergarten and a 5.3 High School GPA with only AP honor & dual credit courses.  Currently has a 4.0 GPA in San Jacinto College where she was on the dean's list for 2014 & 2015.  Ranked 1/510 in her class of 2016 and class Valedictorian.   She earned a perfect score in the UIL Orchestra Competition of Solo & Ensemble 2010-2012.  Received the President's Award 2007-2014 & Principal's Award 2007-2014.  Commended in the State exams 2007-2014.
