Congratulations to Haley Kong for being selected as this year’s female recipient of the United State’s Amateur Athletic Union Taekwondo Leadership Award.

Kong is an accomplished 4th degree black belt taekwondo athlete, as well as a musician. She plays the piano and French horn. Besides taekwondo, Kong has played soccer and basketball, has wrestled, and ran cross country and track.

Kong has had the great honor of traveling the country and interacting with so many kids from many different backgrounds, all with the same passion—taekwondo. From Fort Lauderdale, Florida to Alicante, Spain, she has covered some miles. She was a 2010 USA Taekwondo All American and the current team captain of the AAU Taekwondo Senior National Team.

Aside from her passion for taekwondo, Kong loves to give back to her community. Last year, she received the Congressional Award Gold Medal for her 400+ hours of community service. One day she hopes to be a counselor at a Girl Scout World Center so she can “inspire other girl scouts and girl guides from around the world.”
