Congratulations to Christopher Allen, this year’s male recipient of the 2019 Amateur Athletic Union Taekwondo Youth Leadership Award.
 
Meet Christopher Allen, an accomplished 3rd Degree Black Belt Taekwondo with over 10 years of experience.  An impressive athlete, coach, official & assistant instructor who is a role model for everyone he meets.  Some of his interests besides Taekwondo include math and science, volunteering in his community and church, teaching at elementary schools, helping rescue animals and giving food at shelters.
                                             
Christopher's competition record is impressive particularly when he participated between 2013-2017 at over 50 tournaments and earned 35 gold medals, 5 silver and 14 bronze. One of his biggest accomplishments was becoming an AAU A team member at the 2019 team trials.  Also, in 2019 he was ranked #1 Junior by USA Taekwondo, All American Athlete and Talent ID top Junior Male.
 
Being an Assistant Instructor, Christopher has shown great leadership inside and outside of his school.  Christopher demonstrated leadership by coaching the Carolina Kicks athletes and assisting WOW Taekwondo with belt exams and classes. Christopher has distinguished himself with an impressive 4.33 GPA/4.0 class of 2022.  In 2018 he was a math and science competitor at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. In addition, he is a National Junior Honor Society Member, Beta Club Member, Duke University Academically talented student and involved with the Gallup Clifton Strengths finder course. Christopher has served over 150 community service hours including volunteering with the Union County Crisis Ministry, Urban Ministry Center, Operation Christmas Child & the City of Matthews. 
 
Christopher is an exceptional leader.  He gives his time and service to his community, school, church and at home.  He shares his knowledge and seeks wisdom from others especially respected elders.  Christopher is an elite athlete and has medaled nationally and internationally multiple times.  Even with his success he does not allow it to affect his relationships with others.  He is always willing to help his teammates learn and improve their skills.  A well-rounded athlete, teammate, student, family member and friend. His heart’s foundation is built on integrity and indomitable spirit.
